First Morning
Birth is just behind, still in the room, in the air, on the skin.
The first morning is a container, holding you together in a soft liminal space, within which you get to discover. You get to pause. You get to slowly pore over the details, tentative and tender.
First Morning Sessions are about quietly observing and honouring the morning just as it is.
It might be clumsy and awkward (these fingers are impossibly small, how do we ever learn to dress these limbs, to manage this latch?!)
It might be messy; milk and blood meconium. Salty tears.
It might be bruised and aching and vulnerable, soft and wild, chaos or quiet.
It might feel like discovery or recognition, like setting out or returning home.
How works.
I’m essentially on call for you in your last weeks of pregnancy. You let me know when things are starting so I can start to plan. If you give birth at home, whether in the afternoon or the middle of the night, I’ll come the next morning. If you give birth in hospital, I’ll be there for your first morning home. Whatever birth has been and brought, this is a chance to have a moment of stillness and really honour that first morning with your newborn.
When I arrive you do not need to host me in anyway. I want to find you just as you are, where you are. These sessions are rooted in the truth, tender and raw.
It may feel vulnerable to begin with but my role is to create and hold a space where you can be entirely present in your morning. We might talk or you might forget I’m there all together. Either way, I bring all my experience as a doula and birth photographer and approach the moment with the reverence it deserves, so you get to soak it all up.

Roughly two hours on the first morning home after birth
A full set of high resolution digital files all shot on film
A small set of 7x5 loose fine art prints on bamboo paper
